Castle de Marnix de Sainte Aldegondede
The fairytale castle stands on the ancient foundations of a fortress from the 10th or 11th century, which was supposed to provide protection against the Norman invasions. The castle of Bornem has been owned by the de Marnix family since 1773. The current lord of the castle received an award in 2013 for his commitment to preserving the castle. The castle can be visited by appointment with a guide and on four Sundays in August and September.
Castle d'Ursel
For nearly four hundred years, the Castle d'Ursel, also known as the Castle of Hingene, was the favorite summer residence of the noble d'Ursel family. Every summer, the duke and his family and servants moved to his magnificent country residence in Hingene, a borough of Bornem.
Walk through the beautiful landscape garden in the park. Through the monumental gates you enter an oasis of tranquility. Walking paths lead you along water features and through old lanes. The park is freely accessible from sunrise to sunset.
Barelhoeve petting zoo
Barelhoeve Children's Farm is ideal for a day out with the whole family. You can walk freely among the animals and enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful nature. The domain is only accessible during opening hours.
